Tolbiac Nord, pioneer of Paris Rive Gauche
Coordinating architect : Roland Schweitzer
Tolbiac quarter Tolbiac quarter The first district launched in Paris Rive Gauche, Tolbiac Nord surrounds the Bibliothèque nationale de France and features over 800 housing units. Many companies have their headquarters here such as Sanofi-Aventis, France Telecom-Equant, SAP, CDC-Ixis, Accenture and Régus. Around two gardens, James-Joyce and Georges-Duhamel, there is a day-care-centre, the Balanchine school, the Notre Dame de la Sagesse chapel, two car parks, a series of commercial outlets and the Cité de l'Image et du Son MK2. The district is connected to the Parc de Bercy by a walkway designed by Dietmar Feichtinger. At the foot of the BnF, a swimming pool barge designed by Robert de Busni supplements the leisure offering.

Coordinating architect : Pierre Gangnet
Landscape designer : Empreinte

The district will run from Avenue de France through to Rue du Chevaleret, above the railway lines. As regards Rue du Chevaleret, a balcony featuring a planted 3932 promenade will run alongside the future built-up façade of Avenue de France comprised of offices and housing above the railway lines. Streets, passages and small squares will connect the buildings to the planted promenade and Rue du Chevaleret. The programme also provides for an 8,500 sq.m. garden, a gymnasium and a sports field. The first part of the railway line covering will be delivered in 2010. This plot of land will host the block dubbed T8 conveying a strong architectural statement (architect Rudy Ricciotti for the Nexity/SFL grouping). Located at the corner of Avenue de France and Rue Neuve-Tolbiac, it will supplement this strategic crossroads.
Its programme covers 20,000 sq.m. of offices, 6,000 sq.m. of private housing and 8,000 sq.m. of commercial outlets while developing a highly ambitious approach to environmental aspects.
